Review of The Scent of Cherry Blossoms by Cindy Woodsmall

I liked this book. It was short and I read it quickly but still felt fulfilled. I learned a lot about the differences between Old Order Amish and Old Order Mennonite. I didn't realize there were so many rules about dating between the two groups. I don't really understand why, but at least Annie and Aden had their happy ending! I liked the characters of Aden and Annie. They felt very accessible. And it was interesting how Roman and Aden contrasted despite being identical twins.
I would definitely recommend this book. 4/5 stars.

Book Review: The Canary List by Sigmund Brouwer

I enjoyed this book. It was a little mysterious, a little suspenseful but had a lot of heart. Jaimie was a sweet girl and you genuinely felt bad for her, and the mystery kept me on my toes. Crockett was a very vivid character. The writing was good and it was engaging. I liked the religious aspects, but I felt like the Catholic church was portrayed a little negatively.

Review of Mine is the Night by Liz Curtis Higgs

I was so excited to read this book. The cover is gorgeous and the premise sounds amazing. I was not disapointed. Mine is the night is an excellent and beautifully written novel. The romance between Elizabeth and Jack was great and I loved Lady Marjory.

Jack... I might have a crush on him...
I was excited when I found out this was based on a bible story, and I rushed to read the story of Ruth and Naomi. I can definitely see the parallels! I would recommend this book; it's fun and interesting.

Book review: confessions of april grace, cliques, hicks and ugly sticks

By KD mccrite
April grace s a funny, insightful young lady. Tis book was a fun and quick read, full of a lot of laughs. I enjoyed reading about April and her life. I didn't realize this was a sequel, but I felt like. Still understood what went on. I am interested in reading the first one. I am a little older an tithe targeted age group, but still found this to be an enjoyable book with a good message at the end.

I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris

This book really made me think about dating and the way we view it in today's society. When you think about it, jumping from partner to partner is really a waste of time. Joshua Harris makes some good points. However, it was a little disconcerting that at the time of writing it, he wasn't married. Now he's been married for quite some time, and happily so but he still comes off as someone who doesn't know what they're talking about in places. I also didn't really like how he assumes everyone who's reading the book has been raised in a Christian home. I rarely attended Church growing up and it would've been interesting if he had addressed people like me. I also felt like this book didn't describe courtships enough. It was mostly anti-dating.
It definitely made me think, but I do have some concerns.

Book Review: Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo

This book had me torn. On one hand, I really, really want to believe. On the other hand, I'm skeptical. This is a three year old boy we're talking about, and this occurred years ago. Maybe over time, things have gotten remembered wrong, or somewhere down the line something was exaggerated or little Colton lied about something.
I want to believe it so badly, and the part about his sister, Pop and Akiane would absolutely convince me, if I knew it was real. I'm a believer. I have faith, but it's hard to take something like this without a dose of skepticism. I struggled with this as I read this account. It's an easy, light book to read that describes heaven through the eyes of a little boy who's actually seen it. But was it real?
I ultimately came to the conclusion that it doesn't matter if this is everything Colton said verbatim or if Todd and Sonja made it all up over glasses of chardonnay one cold evening. Even if this was fiction, the point is still the same. Heaven is for real. Be a good person, love God, and you will go there. Maybe Colton Burpo's been there, maybe he hasn't. But I know that someday I'm going to go there.

Book Review: A Most Unsuitable Match by Stephanie Grace Wilson

I thought this book sounded overdone when I read the back. But, since I had agreed to review it, I started it with low hopes. I was so suprised! The back of the book really does not do it justice. The book is about so much more than Samuel and Fannie being completely opposites who fall in love, that's a story that's been over done. "A Most Unsuitable Match", was funny, interesting (I'd never read a book that took in place at this time and place before) and the romance between Samuel and Fannie felt real, and it wasn't like they were enemies, they were friends who fell in love after being a bit stubborn. I don't think the title accurately reflects the book, because I thought they sounded like a nice match.

I cried when Hannah died.
